How do Capricorns relate to Geminis?:

This is one of the more unusual pairings that can be fascinating and frustrating at the same time. Your partner has a lighter attitude toward love and commitment than you do. You are likely to appreciate the fact that your partner can help infuse your relationship with humor, liveliness, and activity, although you may not feel as safe with this person than you do with some others. Your concern with commitment, and tendency to plan for the future may be a bit foreign to your more happy-go-lucky lover. You are sensual and practical at the same time, perhaps a little shy or awkward when it comes to the first stages of love, but really quite dependable in the long haul. You like your solitude, and your partner likes his or her space. If your lover can avoid feeling threatened by your need for alone time, and simply take advantage of those moments to pursue some of his or her many and varied interests, this partnership can work well. You are more able to handle your lover’s quips and teasing than others, although you might complain that his or her head is in the clouds. Your feet are definitely on the ground, but you don’t shy away from ambition and progress either! Despite this, if your partner is the more flighty of Venus in Gemini people, he or she might even find you downright boring. This isn’t to say you are boring, but your partner does favor a livelier, more active partner than you may express. In difficult pairings, you might be inclined to think your partner is about as substantial as cotton candy! It’s all in perception, as well as your different values. This is not considered to be an easy pairing, as we are mixing Air with Earth and Mutability with Cardinality. Gemini and Capricorn have little in common. Nevertheless, many couples have such combinations, probably because we are often attracted to differences. Perhaps it’s because we sense that the other person has what we lack, and vice versa!

Currently I’m dating someone who is a Gemini (and he is a twin!) and I was curious about how our astrological signs relate. The first website I found on google had this and it’s RIGHT on the dot. Our relationship is quite frustrating for me, although I do appreciate him, he seriously drives me insane.  Sometimes I wonder if we can work out since we are soooooo different (down to our basic values). I guess time can only tell.

I’ve always thought astrology was kind of interesting. I looked up how capi’s relate to other astrological signs that belonged to other guys I’ve dated and they were also right on. Creeepy.

I love my Butter London matte topcoat!

I’m in love with my new topcoat from butter london. I used it two days ago on top of some pretty purple nailpolish and I love the outcome. I want to post up pictures of my nails, but I did such an uneven job on the purple and I’m a little embarrassed about it. Maybe the next time I use it, I’ll post up pictures! :)

Have you ever had lunch with a New Yorker?

“Have you ever had lunch with a New Yorker? Really, it’s not far from an episode of Sex and the City. Up close too, the girls are perfect head to toe, and all the way to their nails. They’re rosy-cheeked, perfect hair, and their outfits, even if they’re vintage, all seem brand new. And they are really, and I mean really, skinny.

Okay, so I gotta say that when I first arrived in New York, the first people I met all worked in fashion. Then I met lots of other girls and I can say that not ALL New Yorkers are like that. Not all of them.

But the women in fashion in New York, they’re not just skinny. They’re New York skinny. New York skinny means thin to the brink, yet muscly from Pilates because it gives you those super long lean muscles. Anna Wintour style… Muffin top? What’s that mean? It was cute, at first, to be the only Parisian at a New Yorker lunch.

But now, have you ever had lunch with Parisians? Well all right : Have you ever had lunch with me? Lunch usually involves a glass a wine, one or two desserts that everyone shares, no need for an appetizer but stuffing your face full of half the bread on the table is kind of totally ok. Finish with a coffee and twelve cigarettes, saying that no, it’s no good, but so much fun.

So it was cute to be the only Parisian at a table of New Yorkers. They would watch me rip another piece of bread off, order a glass of wine and a dessert and ask me what was the secret of those Parisians who stay thin despite such a devastating diet.

And I’d just laugh saying that everyone in NY is just too skinny, that they have to live a little and no, I don’t work out at all cause I have so many other fascinating things to do in my life. Like smoking a few cigarettes, just to name one. And I’m perfectly fine with my little muffin top, thank you. I was perfectly happy that way.”

My oh my, I miss the European laid back outlook on life, leisure, and food. I was probably the healthiest I’ve ever been when I was living in Italy… while eating bread, cheese, wine, coffee, chocolate, and pasta every day!

Picked up some new pretty things this week!

I picked some new things this week from sephora and sway! I really should stop shopping so much and save up, but these were too pretty to not get! :)

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection from Sephora – I love the packaging and colors!

Mustard Yellow Racerback tank from Sway

Beige and Black lacy bandeaus from Sway

Mustard Yellow Sheer Crop Top from Sway

I used the UD palette today and it compliments the Naked palette colors really well. The left column has the light cool neutrals, the middle has some pretty colorful colors, and the right column has the dark cool neutrals. My favorites so far are Flow, Chase, Deeper, M.I.A., and Halftruth. Guess I can play with these more later on! The mustard color tops are very cute, and a good way to transition my summer wardrobe into fall. I love how bright they are, but also very warm and earthy as well. Wore the crop top today with an H&M long spaghetti strap, Black Aritzia Leggings,  and vintage black leather boots I bought at a Vintage shop in Rome. Maybe eventually I’ll take and post pictures of my outfits, but I’m too lazy right now!

I should start getting ready to go out now. Toodlessss. :)

Vinyasa Flow Yoga!

Recently, me and my friend Camille started going to Groove Yoga in Berkeley, Ca for their Vinyasa Flow Power Yoga sessions. There’s an introductory monthly pass for $30 for a month of unlimited yoga, so we figured we’d give it a try! I’ve gone to three sessions already, 2 with Jenn and 1 with Jazz, who are both amazing yoga instructors, and I really love it! Classes run for an hour an a half and most of them are in heated rooms of about 85 degrees! After my first class, I had a newfound respect for those who do yoga considering I was grossly dripping of sweat during the class and probably haven’t sweat that much… ever! I think we’re going to both try a few studios around the area before settling on one studio, but vinyasa yoga is definitely something I want to keep doing for years to come. Besides the health benefits of yoga, it’s really nice that when you really get into it, it’s easy to do it at home during your own time.

Anyways here’s some information on vinyasa flow yoga that I have compiled from the web.

Overview: Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga that links the breath with movement. The focus is on the inhale and exhale as you move from one pose to the next. Many vinyasa flow classes are done in a heated studio that can reach 80 to 85 degrees. Vinyasa yoga offers benefits to the body and mind.

Strength Training:  Vinyasa yoga serves as a strength-training process and helps build lean muscle mass throughout the body. The different poses, especially the standing, arm balances, backbends and inversions utilize body resistance while placing stress on muscles and fatiguing them. The benefit of using vinyasa yoga as a primary method of building lean muscle mass is that all muscle groups receive equal attention, creating balanced strength throughout the body.

Flexibility: Stiff muscles are uncomfortable and difficult to move. The continual flowing movements of vinyasa yoga help stretch and elongate your muscles while they are being strengthened, allowing you greater mobility and range of motion. Other forms of yoga, such as anusara or iyengar, hold the poses for a longer period of time, which can be uncomfortable for tight muscles. But a constant flow, tied to the breath, allows for fresh oxygen to fuel and loosen muscles. Flexibility in the muscles also takes stress off the joints, ligaments and tendons, and helps prevent injuries like muscle pulls and tears.

Stress: Vinyasa yoga works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels to connect the mind with the body and relieve stress and anxiety. Mindfully moving through the continual flowing poses during a vinyasa class can help alleviate the static thoughts that may be running through your head. Focusing on the inhale and exhale of your breath results in a positive, calming effect on your central nervous system.

The Breath: Vinyasa yoga forces you to focus on your breathing for 60 to 90 minutes. The vinyasa breathing method of ujjayi pranayama helps calm and quiet the brain, while kapalabhati pranayama can help purify your brain and body.

Physiological Benefits: There are physiological and medical benefits to vinyasa yoga. It can help to reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it can help detoxify the body so functions, systems and organs operate more efficiently. It also can balance your metabolic system, helping you sleep better and aiding in weight loss.

New blog!

I’m just sitting at work right now, wanted to take a break from researching insurance rate review (yawn) and so I created this wordpress! I guess I got a little distracted because I changed the theme and created a header so far! I’m just getting used to wordpress a bit, but I hope that I could eventually navigate around much easier. Anyways, hopefully this doesn’t end up being one of my deadend blogs that I forget about completely. I honestly want it to be a place that I can dump my thoughts, especially about food, fashion, and traveling. Ciaoooo mi amore. <3
